What is ANC 8C Doing About Environmental Justice:
ANC 8C is focusing on fundamentally changing human attitude and behavior about pollution and catalyzing a significant reduction in plastic pollution. The focus of the Community Clean Up is to reduce pollution in ANC 8C and Ward 8 in general.
During the Campaign we are:
Educating and mobilizing residents across Ward 8 about plastic pollution and environmental justice.
Informing and activating citizens to take personal responsibility for the pollution that each one of us generates by choosing to reduce, refuse, reuse, recycle and remove plastics
Working with universities, school teachers and students to get actively involved in cleaning the community
Working with other organizations and networks to build an effective environmental justice platform by developing resources that others can leverage and build partnerships with
Promoting the work that cities and local governments are doing to tackle pollution
Empowering journalists across the globe to report on the problem and its emerging solutions.
ANC 8C is utilizing its platform, working with key constituencies and influencers in building a Ward of educated residents of all ages who understand the environmental, climate and health consequences of using plastics.
ANC 8C is engaging and activating their network of grassroots organizations, student groups, youth, other local elected leaders, faith leaders, artists and athletes. They are also supporting other events across the world, building a global following and activating citizens to join environmental justice advocacy campaigns.
In sum, They are using their position to elevate the issue of environmental justice in the global agenda and inspiring and demanding effective action around it.
