Minor Source, Major Impact: Protecting Your Right to Comment on Air Permits

August 5 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm

The EPA wants to take away your right to comment on certain air pollution permits, and the deadline to speak up is August 21.
Right now, before a state approves a smaller polluter or an expansion, the public gets a notice and 30 days to comment. The EPA has proposed a rule that would end that guarantee and let each state decide whether to allow public comment at all.

These “minor” sources are not always minor. They add up, and they tend to land in the same neighborhoods already dealing with the most pollution. If this rule passes, those permits could go through with no public notice and no chance to weigh in.
This training will get you ready to submit a comment before the deadline.

By the end, you will be able to:
–Explain what the EPA rule would change and who it affects
–Understand what “minor” sources are and why they still matter for your air and health
–Know why a guaranteed public comment period protects your community
–Find the rule and the comment docket online
–Write a clear, effective comment in your own words
–Submit your comment correctly so it lands on the official record before August 21, 2026.
